How this Seemingly-Innocent Notion can Wreak Serious Havoc on Your Biz
Last week a client was futzing with her calendar — on a quest for the perfectly-balanced schedule . . .
She wants it all: time for long naps, spa visits, and nights out with the gals. Time for romantic dinners, time with the kids, and time to volunteer. Time for cooking, time for cleaning, time for errands, and time for travel. Time for paying bills, getting to the gym, and oh… by the way…did I mention: time to work her full-time job AND start a coaching business!!!!???
Whew… all in an Unstoppable-day’s work, right?
WRONG-O.
I hear entrepreneurs say it all the time:
“I just need to find more balance!”
(Gag.)
This mysterious desire for “balance” is not only unhelpful — it doesn’t even exist.
First, let’s start with the definition of balance: A state of equilibrium, mental steadiness or emotional stability.
Yeah, good luck finding THAT while learning to build your Entrepreneurial Empire!
Why, ask any female entrepreneur and she’ll give you the honest low-down:
Balance plays 0 part in an Unstoppable woman’s life.
Learning to stretch outside your comfort zone, go where no woman has gone before, and leap tall buildings with a single bound does not come along with a heaping scoop of “balance”.
No m’am.
It’s a dance. A juggling act. A course-correcting adventure.
And even the best of us are bound to end up (temporarily) as the gutter-ball on the bowling alley of life.
It requires constant expansion. Constant creativity. Constant intuition.
But never balance.
You can’t stay in lotus-position while walking the entrepreneurial tightrope. They just can’t be done simultaneously.
If you hold onto this myth WHILE you’re building your business, you’ll beat yourself up endlessly for not attaining the unattainable. And that will only taint your confidence like a turd in a swimming pool.
To become a great coach, healer, or service professional, you’ve got to live from your gut. You’ve got to take imperfect, inspired actions often. You’ve got to be willing to roll up your sleeves and get yourself dirty. And you’ve got to be willing to fall flat on your face now and then, too.
On the wild-and-wonderful entrepreneurial roller-coaster, I can guarantee this:
- You will be terrified.
- You won’t know what to do sometimes.
- You will fail. (More than once.)
- You will face all your innermost fears.
But this path ALSO leads to the Land-o-Shangra-La. A place where women like you finally step into their true essence. Beauty. Power. Purpose.
It leads to a life filled with endless creativity. Overflowing abundance. Joy out the wazoo. And an existence filled with unstoppable meaning.
It is the life of a woman on a mission…
And best of all, it’s the kind of life that lets you end your journey with a big fat juicy smile on your face.
You see: Running your own thriving business is NOT what you think it is.
(And it is far, far better than you could ever imagine.)
