Hey, Luv-Nut!
It’s Valentine’s Day, Oh VERY VERY Loved-One…
And just for fun, I thought I’d share something playful, light and close to my heart — one of my FAVORITE “sneaky” treats — and a lil’ secret sumpin-sumpin’ that brings me GIDDY delight!
(Especially if you want to REALLY make someone’s day. And who doesn’t?)
So… The idea I’m about to share was inspired by the Painted-Rock-Phenomenon that’s been sweeping the country — where local groups paint random rocks with bright, happy colors (sometimes including an uplifting word or phrase)?!?! Then they hide these rocks throughout local parks, or wherever pedestrians might stumble upon them.
(I have a whole collection of them in my office...)
But I personally wasn’t drawn to painting rocks — but…
I loved the idea so much, I started thinking about …ANONYMOUS LOVE-NOTES instead!!!!!!
And since today is a holiday that’s geared toward expressing love to others — I thought it might be fun to share my silly little Spread-the-Luv game.
HERE’S WHAT I DO:
1. I get some simple scrap paper, spare note cards or leftover stationary — whatever handy (or makes me happy).
2. I close my eyes, put my right hand over my heart –– and imagine what my Inner-Child would love to hear MOST right now!
(Knowing that if it sings to MY heart, it will likely sing to someone else’s heart, too.)
4. Then I write those words as a “LOVE NOTE” — making it as long or as short as I want (there’s no rules here).
I personally sign each one from: “The Universe”. (You could also use: “Your Higher Self”, “Your Future Self”, “God”, or “Secret Admirer”.)
I usually find myself writing messages that speak about:
- Worthiness
- Abundance
- Letting go of past pains or mistakes
- Forgiveness – of self and/or others
- Being beautiful and attractive – As-is!
- Self-love, tenderness and nurturing
- The bright future ahead
- Being a necessary and important person in this world
(PS: Feel free to skip this step if you’d prefer to write love-notes directly to another — the act itself will still rock your world!)
5. Then I fold, roll or seal the paper in some way — making sure to write something on the outside to grab people’s attention… like:
“READ ME!!!!”
And last, but not least:
5. I head out to a nearby coffee joint, grocery store, park, mall, library, restaurant — wherever I happen to be going that day! — and hide those love-notes wherever someone might find them… Trusting that the RIGHT person will be led to that location, at the perfect moment.
(Heck, you could even hide them around your house, in your kids’ lunchboxes, your honey’s briefcase, etc.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you leave these outside — make sure to put them in a zip-lock bag to keep them safe from the elements.
So even though we’re doing a “SELF-LOVE” Tribute this month (yet Valentine’s Day is geared toward showing love for OTHERS) — I think once you try this idea for yourself, you’ll find that YOUR heart is filled up too in the process!
Not only do I get a great chance to love myself up just a little bit more every time I sneak one of these cards between 2 cans of baked beans, behind a box of cereal, or in an empty shopping cart — but I ALSO get to pass along that sweet love to someone else, too — someone who might be struggling, sad, or just deserving an extra smile!
And let’s not forget: So many of us Unstoppables have HUGE dreams and desires to make a difference… but… we all can forget that just making a stranger smile can make a FAR bigger impact than we might ever imagine.
Maybe we can worry a little big less about “Saving the Whole Wide World” — and just brighten up the day of 1 neighbor down the road, or the person next to us in the grocery line.
If each one of us did a little Random Act of Kindness — for 1, 5, 10 or 20 people every day, week, month — the ripple effect could be ASTONISHING!!!!!
So consider sneaking a sprinkle of tender-loving-kindness into your regular routine. It doesn’t cost a dime, only takes a few minutes, but could make you (and others) — have more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!
(That’s what it does for me…)
Enjoy this idea — and let me know if you try it! Or if you have your own fun ideas, share away in the comment section in the blog: CLICK HERE (or reply to this email)… we’re all eager to hear!!!
Big love to you, oh Valentine-oh-Mine…
XOXOXO
(Muah!!!!!!)
(PS: This idea is obviously NOT just for Valentine’s Day!!! So if you don’t have time to try it out now – no worries! It works great every other day of the year, too…)
